About Us

At the turn of last millennium, a group of Jain families made Brisbane their homes. This small group of individuals used to gather for various religious activities on a regular basis. It was here that the idea of Brisbane Jain Sangh was conceived.

Founded on August 2009, Brisbane Jain Sangh (BJS) is a close-knit community comprising of Jain families and individuals from all walks of life, practicing Jainism residing in and around Brisbane. We are a not-for-profit organisation and also an endorsed charity by Australian Tax Office.

The motive of BJS is to promote the philosophy and teachings of the Jainism among the growing population of Jains in Brisbane through various religious/cultural activities.

The BJS community is devoted to the religion and engages the entire Brisbane-based community of Jains in its religious programs – from fortnightly activities such as Samayik and Pathshala, to annual events such as Paryushan18 Abhishek & Dhaja Rohan. Our greatest vision is to set up

  • A place of worship which allows a safe haven for prayers and other religious and cultural activities.
  • A Spiritual Centre that serves as a place where the current Jain community and all the future generations can find divinity and a guiding light to lead them to the path of righteousness.

The objectives of BJS is to promote the philosophies and teachings of the Jain religion amongst the growing population of Jains in Brisbane by conducting and participating in various religious, spiritual/cultural activities
